Dr. Christie Whitbeck
Bryan Independent School District 2019 Bond Presentation

Dr. Christie Whitbeck is a consensus builder who leads with more than 30 years of
experienced-based knowledge in public education and a firm belief in the “Children
First. Always.” mission of Bryan ISD.
In her first year in Bryan, she oversaw the passage of a tax election resulting in an
estimated $4.4 million in additional operating revenue, a historic grade realignment, the
purchase of 50,000 square foot career and technical education center sitting on 119
acres and introduced two community showcase events that profile the best of Bryan
ISD.
Additionally, Whitbeck instituted comprehensive and widespread transportation
improvements, showing a willingness to face challenges head-on. Recently, she
enacted significant safety improvements and worked with stakeholders to create the
district and community-wide “Essential Eight” character education initiative.
Prior to arriving in Bryan, Whitbeck served as deputy superintendent of Fort Bend ISD
for four years. Additionally, Whitbeck was the assistant superintendent of academics in
Alvin ISD and an award-winning principal in Katy ISD, where she opened schools at the
elementary, middle and high school levels. She earned her first post in school
administration as an assistant principal in Katy ISD after beginning her career as a
teacher, language arts specialist and team leader in Alief ISD.
Whitbeck received her doctorate in public school administration from Texas A&M
University, graduating summa cum laude. She obtained a master’s degree in
administration supervision and a mid-management certification from the University of
Houston and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Missouri State
University.
