Bryan Fire Chief

Fire Chief Richard Giusti has served in the fire service for over 36 years. He started his fire service career started in the Air Force as a fire protection specialist; served 9 years as an active-duty firefighter and another 14 years as an active reservist at Goodfellow AFB as a fire service instructor. Chief Giusti also served with the San Antonio Fire Department for 26 years and promoted through the ranks to Assistant Chief. As an Assistant Chief Giusti was a Fire Shift Commander and supervised over 400 firefighters, 54 fire stations, and over 100 emergency response apparatus.

As the Bryan Fire Chief he has implementing a strategic development plan that included meeting with the citizens of Bryan to receive input. He has implemented a proactive approach to emergency medicine by establishing a community para-medicine program and has implemented incident command training for all firefighters to ensure a round trip ticket.

He holds a Master of Arts degree in Homeland Security from the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Disaster and Emergency Management from American Military University, and two Associate of Applied Science degrees in Fire Science and Instructor of Technology and Military Science from the Community College of the Air Force.
