Twin City Mission
Like many non-profits, we are unique in that all of our programs were developed to meet existing, identified needs in our community. Beginning in 1963 with the Bryan City Mission, a men’s homeless shelter aimed at helping provide shelter, meals and clothing to homeless men living on the streets in downtown Bryan. The facility is now known as the Doug Weedon Shelter for Hope, and provides Homeless and Housing services, including the Community Café and Community Closet. Phoebe’s Home opened in 1979, providing the first available relief for victims of domestic violence and their children in the Brazos Valley. This program added other services for these women and the name changed to Domestic Violence Services to adequately reflect all that they do.
STAR Services were added in 1988. Due to their presence in now 10 counties of the Brazos Valley Region, we renamed the program Youth and Family Services. We also operate four Resale Stores, all of which serve as donation sites. In October of 2019 we will be adding an on-line store. All the proceeds from these stores support the Doug Weedon Shelter for Hope.
