Judge Andrea James
Child Protection Court

Andrea James, Associate Judge of the Second Region Child Protection Court Number Two, presides over child protection cases in Angelina, Brazos, Grimes, Madison and Walker Counties. Judge James earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Texas A&M University and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge James’ legal career included serving as an Assistant District Attorney for Harris County in both the trial and appellate divisions, litigating medical negligence cases, serving as in house counsel for a Lloyd’s syndicate’s United States medical liability facility, and as a family law litigator both as an Assistant District Attorney for Brazos County responsible for the child protection docket and as a private practitioner. Judge James is Board Certified in both Family Law and Child Welfare Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Judge James and her husband, Robbie, are avid horsemen and enjoy raising cattle.
