35 years of service to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office in Bryan, Texas:

  • Jail Officer (1 year);
  • Patrol Deputy (2 years);
  • Criminal Investigator (14 years) specializing in Crimes Against Children; and
  • Currently serving 6th  four- year term as the Brazos County Sheriff (first elected in 1996).

 

Texas Master Peace Officer Certification.

 

Graduate of National Sheriff’s Institute, Class of 2000-02.

 

Project Director - BVNTTF & Brazos County Special Investigation Unit (BCSIU) 1998 - 2009.

 

Appointed to a 2nd six year term by Governor Rick Perry to the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee on Offender with Medical or Mental Impairment (TCOOMMI - 2004 to present).

 

Member of Sheriff’s Association of Texas (S.A.T.):

  • awarded 2004 S.A.T. President’s Award
  • awarded 2008 Bill Decker Leadership Award
  • Past President,  (2007 - 2008) & currently serving the Legislative Committee.

 

Currently a Member of National Sheriffs’ Association Board of Directors  (elected in 01/2013).

 

Past President for the Western States Sheriffs’ Association (elected 03/2009) & Chairman of the Jail Committee.

 

Coordinator of Brazos County Crime Stoppers, Inc. since November, 1988 to present;

  • named Texas Crime Stopper’s Coordinator of the Year, 1990.

 

President of Scotty’s House Child Advocacy Center Board of Directors (currently serving 16th term).

 

Presiding Officer for the Brazos County Child Fatality Review Team, Charter Member since inception in 1995.

 

1986 - 2010 Board Member for Brazos County Sexual Assault Resource Center, Past President & member.

 

2003 - 2005 District Chairman / Arrow Moon District - Houston Area Council of Boys Scouts of America.

  • awarded the District Award of Merit (January 2005).

 

2008 thru 2009 Board Member for the Texas Association of Counties.

 

2005 thru 2007 & 2nd term 2008 thru 2010.Board Member for the County Information Resource Agency.

 

Member Bryan Federal Prison Community Relations Board, since 1997.

 

Member of Bryan Noon Lions Club.

  • awarded the Lions Club 2007 Citizen of the Year.
